Join Us!

Are you ready to commit yourself to a dynamic and innovative community project on a beautiful piece of land on the upper Sunshine Coast – Tla’amin territory – of British Columbia? Now is the time to get involved!

The first step in the membership process is requesting an Information Package and completing and sending back to us a “New Member Application.”

Email us at info@blueberrycommons.ca to receive the application material. After receiving your completed application, we send you some materials to review and you are invited to come and observe a meeting either in person or by Zoom. Following that meeting we set up a time for an interview with you. After the interview, candidates attend a minimum of 3 meetings or community events before being considered for full membership.

The overall process can be completed in 2-3 months. We would be happy to provide you with more details about our new member policy and process at your request. Applicants from outside of the Powell River region can participate from a distance but are expected to make at least one visit to the community prior to being approved for membership.

As we are moving quickly towards construction beginning summer of 2024, we are looking for members who are ready to commit to being part of this unique community opportunity in the near future.

Spaces are limited – we encourage you to apply today!

This phase of development will have seven units, both duplexes and small stand alone homes. Homes will be 1000 - 1200 square feet of living space – approximately 800 square feet on the main floor with second story space to be developed according to each member’s wishes. We expect units to be in the range of $670,000 including co-ownership of the farm and all of our land.

Members will have the opportunity to shape final design decisions and, like all co-housing communities, to contribute to the work of making the project happen by bringing their skills and vision to the table and by attending regular General Circle meetings.

We offer a multi-staged membership process that enables you to get to know current members and the vision of the project before making the final decision to join. It also gives us the opportunity to get to know you and to ensure that there is a good fit with the needs and the vision of the cooperative.

There are also other ways to get involved!

We have regular work bees at the farm which bring together many hands to join in the many projects that lay in waiting on the land. All are welcome to join in these fun community building days!

Stay tuned for additional events, workshops and gatherings at Blueberry Commons.
